New Thought is a spiritual movement rooted in the idea that the Divine is not somewhere far away — but present within every person and all of life. We believe that love, not fear, is the foundation of existence, and that our thoughts, beliefs, and awareness shape how we experience the world. Rather than a fixed set of rules or doctrines, New Thought is an invitation to explore timeless spiritual principles through your own experience. It draws wisdom from many traditions while remaining open to new understanding.
Absolutely. Spiritual Living Center of Mobile has been a living, evolving community since the early 2000s, when it was founded by David Ault, a minister from Centers for Spiritual Living. Over the years it has grown and shifted — as all living communities do — and today it is a lay-led gathering of people who show up for one another and for something greater than themselves. We welcome everyone, regardless of age, gender, beliefs, body, or background. No matter who you are or where you've been, you belong here.
Mission We are a welcoming community rooted in love, dedicated to exploring spiritual truth and awakening the Divine potential within every person.
Core Values
Love — Love is the foundation of everything we do. We strive to see the Divine in every person we encounter and to lead with open hearts in all circumstances.
Diversity — We celebrate the rich tapestry of humanity. Every background, identity, and life experience is honored and welcomed here.
Generosity — We give freely of our time, resources, and spirit — trusting that as we pour into others, life pours back into us.
Gratitude — We practice gratitude as a spiritual discipline, recognizing that an appreciative heart opens the door to greater good.
Integrity — We commit to living in alignment with our highest values — in our community, in our relationships, and within ourselves.
Wisdom — We seek truth wherever it is found, drawing from many spiritual traditions while remaining grounded in the timeless principles of New Thought.
Being Spirit-Led — We trust the still, small voice within. We listen, we discern, and we follow the guidance of the Divine Presence that lives in and through us.
One Presence, One Power There is one infinite, loving Presence at the heart of all existence. We call it God, Spirit, the Divine — the name matters less than the recognition that this Presence is everywhere, in everything, and always available to us.
We Are Divine by Nature Every person is a unique expression of the Divine. You are not broken, fallen, or separate from God. You are, at your core, whole, loved, and good.
Thoughts Shape Experience Our thoughts and beliefs are creative. What we hold in our minds and hearts influences how we experience the world around us. Shifting our thinking is one of the most powerful spiritual practices available to us.
Prayer and Meditation We connect with the Divine through prayer and meditation — not to petition a distant God, but to align ourselves with the love and wisdom already present within us.
Living the Truth Spiritual understanding is only the beginning. We are called to live our beliefs — to let love, wisdom, and compassion guide our words, choices, and actions every day.
Each of us is a unique and eternal expression of the Divine. Our essential nature is not broken or fallen — it is inherently whole, worthy, and good. We believe that the life of Jesus, along with other great spiritual teachers throughout history, serves as a demonstration of what becomes possible when a person fully awakens to their divine nature. Their lives were not meant to be pedestals we admire from a distance, but invitations to realize that same potential within ourselves. The more we awaken to who we truly are, the more love, wisdom, and possibility flow in and through our lives.
We believe prayer is more than asking — it is a powerful, creative act. Affirmative prayer begins with the recognition of a God that is already present, already whole, and already working in our lives. From that foundation, we release thoughts of fear, lack, or limitation and replace them with statements of spiritual truth about ourselves and our circumstances. Meditation is how we quiet the noise of daily life and open ourselves to the still, loving Presence within. It is less about doing and more about being — allowing ourselves to rest in the awareness of the Divine. Together, prayer and meditation are not just spiritual practices. They are tools for transformation, gradually shifting how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us.
